Manatee County School Bus Struck by Pickup in Hit-and-Run Crash
BRADENTON, Fla. — A pickup truck driver attempted to pass a stopped Manatee County school bus on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in a collision, after which the driver fled the scene, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred just after 3:30 p.m. on April 30, with the pickup truck failing to maintain a safe distance as it passed the school bus heading north on 57th Street East. The truck sideswiped the bus before continuing north and eventually turning east onto State Road 64.
As of Wednesday evening, authorities had not identified the pickup truck driver, with the Florida Highway Patrol’s investigation ongoing. Fortunately, despite 51 students being onboard the school bus, no injuries were reported.
