CLINTONVILLE, Wis. (WFRV) – An 87-year-old man from Marion, Wisconsin, died Friday afternoon as a result of injuries sustained in a UTV crash. The incident occurred after the UTV collided with a pickup truck.
According to the Clintonville Police Department, officers were dispatched to the intersection of U.S. Highway 45/West Madison Street and Bennett Street at approximately 12:01 p.m. on Friday.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a 2008 Polaris Ranger UTV was traveling south on Bennett Street when it failed to stop at a stop sign. The UTV then struck a 2013 GMC Sierra pickup truck heading west.
The 87-year-old UTV operator was transported by ambulance to the Clintonville Airport, where he was scheduled to be airlifted by a ThedaStar helicopter for treatment of serious, life-threatening injuries. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries before the helicopter arrived.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 46-year-old man from Alma Center, was not injured in the collision. Further details regarding the crash are currently unavailable.
