Always one to embrace innovation, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, recently brought a unique vision to life: a customized Porsche minivan. When his wife, Priscilla Chan, expressed her preference for a minivan as her next vehicle, Zuckerberg collaborated with West Coast Customs, a renowned shop based in Los Angeles, to transform a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT SUV into an extended minivan.
The modifications to the minivan include electric sliding doors and an elongated frame, offering more space than the original SUV model. Zuckerberg also ensured a matching pair of vehicles, as the shop customized a manual GT3 Touring in the same slate gray color. This duo now serves as a ‘his and hers’ driving pair.
While Zuckerberg might be the first to have such a vehicle on the road, Porsche itself has explored the minivan concept. In 2020, the company unveiled a concept minivan named the Porsche Vision “Renndienst.” Originally designed in 2018, the Renndienst was envisioned as a “family-friendly space concept” with seating for up to six people. Porsche even created a 1:1 scale model to demonstrate how the brand’s characteristics could be incorporated into a classic family vehicle. Zuckerberg’s customized Cayenne Minivan seems to combine the best of both worlds.
Earlier this week, Zuckerberg responded to a comment from Brian Scotto, previously associated with Hoonigan, stating that he has been primarily driving a Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, with a few other cars in his collection. This comment was made in a video where Zuckerberg was showing off his new Ray-Ban Meta glasses while looking for his car in a parking garage. The video concluded without revealing which car he was driving.
This customized minivan isn’t the first time Zuckerberg has commissioned an extraordinary, oversized gift for his wife. Earlier this year, he commissioned a seven-foot-tall green garden statue in her likeness. Compared to that, the custom Porsche Minivan feels relatively understated; it seems that he enjoys pushing the boundaries of custom gifts.
