Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, recently commissioned West Coast Customs to undertake a rather unusual project: transforming a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT into a minivan. The custom vehicle was a gift for his wife, Priscilla Chan.
When Chan expressed her desire for a minivan, Zuckerberg collaborated with the Los Angeles-based custom shop to stretch the Porsche SUV into a longer minivan. The modifications include electric sliding doors and an extended frame, offering a unique take on family transportation. The project reflects Zuckerberg’s penchant for bringing his automotive visions to life.
While the Cayenne was in the shop, Zuckerberg also had the shop customize a manual GT3 Touring in the same slate gray color. This created a matching pair of vehicles for Zuckerberg and his wife.
This isn’t the first attempt at a Porsche minivan. In 2020, Porsche unveiled a concept minivan called the Porsche Vision “Renndienst”, which had been initially conceived in 2018 as a “family-friendly space concept for up to six persons.” The German automaker even made a 1:1 scale model of the concept, designed to show Porsche’s design DNA could be injected into the classic family vehicle.
Zuckerberg has been known for extravagant gifts. Earlier this summer, he commissioned a seven-foot green garden statue in his wife’s likeness. In contrast, a custom Porsche minivan seems relatively understated.
