Maruti’s First Electric Car Delayed? e Vitara Gears Up For Festive Launch
Maruti Suzuki’s first electric vehicle, the e Vitara, is facing a delay in its launch. The car was initially expected to be launched around this time, having been first showcased at the Auto Expo. However, Chairman R C Bhargava has announced that deliveries will commence from September, aligning with the festive season.

The e Vitara is being manufactured at Maruti’s Gujarat plant and is a crucial product for the company. It is expected to be Maruti’s most expensive SUV, priced above the hybrid Grand Vitara. The car will come with two battery pack options: 49kWh and 61kWh. The features and interiors of the e Vitara are also expected to be more advanced than other Maruti models, as seen in its reveal at the Auto Expo.
Maruti has promised the largest charging network to accompany the car upon its launch. The e Vitara will be sold through Nexa sales outlets, and its production will also be earmarked for exports to global markets. The delay in launch is currently unclear, but it is hoped that the car will be launched sooner rather than later, providing buyers with more options in the EV space.
The e Vitara is just the beginning, as more electric vehicles are expected to follow in the coming years. Maruti will also maintain a healthy portfolio of ICE and hybrid vehicles, including a 7-seater version of the Grand Vitara, which is expected to launch this year based on the 5-seater version.
