Maybach Sees Unprecedented Growth in India
The Indian luxury car market is booming, with Maybach experiencing remarkable success. Sales figures from 2024 indicate a strong demand, with the brand selling approximately ten cars per week.

According to a report in the Times of India, Maybach’s sales in India grew by 145% last year. Globally, the company sold approximately 21,800 units, with over 500 of those sold in India. With prices starting at Rs 3 crore, Maybach cars are positioned at the pinnacle of luxury.
Daniel Lescow, the global head of Maybach, commented on the brand’s success and long history in India. “Maybach has a history of over 100 years in India, and it is simply amazing to see how the brand has developed and evolved. Just last year, we saw a growth of 145% in our India sales as numbers crossed 500 cars, making it one of the fastest-growing countries for us globally,” he stated in an interview with the daily.
The brand is one of the leading ultra-luxury carmakers to assemble vehicles in India, having started assembling the S580 model at Mercedes’ Pune factory in 2015. The new SL680 model, capable of reaching speeds up to 260 kmph, is expected to launch in January. The report states that the limited quota of only three cars released for India have already been sold.
Millennials are significantly influencing these sales. Lescow noted that the average age of Maybach’s Indian customers is under 40, specifically 38. “There’s a deep interest in the brand, and Indian customers are very knowledgeable about the products. I was impressed by the maturity around luxury here,” he added.
