Mazda is gaining momentum in the electric vehicle market with its new Mazda EZ-60 electric crossover, based on the Arata concept. The model has been listed in the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) database, revealing key technical characteristics.
Technical Specifications
The Mazda EZ-60 is built on the new EPA platform, developed in collaboration with Chinese company Changan. This modular structure features a compact vertical ‘sandwich’ design, housing the battery, electric motor, and chassis, which reduces production costs and improves efficiency.
Design and Features
The Mazda EZ-60 boasts an aggressive front bumper with narrow headlights and LED daytime running lights. At the rear, a continuous LED strip serves as a taillight, accompanied by a large MAZDA inscription. The body features an EV nameplate, indicating its all-electric version. The dimensions are 4850 mm in length, 1935 mm in width, 1620 mm in height, with a 2902 mm wheelbase.

The all-electric version is powered by a 255 hp electric motor, with a lithium-iron-phosphate battery. Although the battery capacity remains undisclosed, it was previously reported to have a range of up to 628 km. An extended-range version (EREV) is also available, featuring a 1.5-liter engine with 96.6 hp, which recharges the battery.
Interior and Comfort
The interior is minimalist, centered around a large 26.45-inch display that controls car settings and multimedia functions. The steering wheel is cut from the bottom, similar to sports cars. Front seats are not only heated but also feature a massage function, popular in the premium segment. The center console includes wireless smartphone charging and a storage compartment.

The Mazda EZ-60 is positioned as a competitor to the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 6. Although the price remains unannounced, it’s expected to range from 150,000 to 300,000 yuan (approximately $20.8-41.6 thousand). Interestingly, over 20,000 pre-orders have been received despite the lack of a final price. Deliveries are set to begin in August 2025.
Conclusion
The Mazda EZ-60 electric crossover is set to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market. With its advanced technology, comfortable interior, and competitive pricing, it’s poised to challenge established brands like Tesla and BYD.
