Mercedes-Benz Expands Electric Luxury Van Offerings in Canada
Mercedes-Benz is set to introduce its all-electric VLE eight-passenger van to the Canadian market, representing a significant expansion of its electric vehicle lineup in the country. The VLE, built on the automaker’s new EV van architecture launching in 2026, promises to bring fuel-free luxury transportation to Canadian families and VIP clients alike.
The new electric van has already undergone rigorous real-world testing, with two VLE test vans completing a nearly 1,100 km journey from Stuttgart to Rome. This challenging route included steep mountain passes in the Alps, rural roads, and city streets, with only two 15-minute charging stops along the way. The vans maintained a consistent cabin temperature of 22°C (72°F) despite external temperatures ranging from 11°C (52°F) in Stuttgart to 32.7°C (91°F) in Rome.

The VLE line is designed to cater to a wide range of clients, from families seeking flexible transportation solutions to exclusive VIP shuttles. A second model, the VLS, is also on the horizon, promising to redefine automotive luxury. Both vehicles will be based on Mercedes-Benz’s new Van Architecture platform, which is modular and scalable.
Key features of the VLE include advanced thermal management and rear-axle steering, enhancing its performance and maneuverability. While specific details about the Canadian market launch and pricing remain under wraps, the addition of the VLE to Mercedes-Benz’s lineup is set to bolster the country’s growing electric vehicle market.
Currently, Mercedes-Benz’s largest three-row EV in Canada is the EQS SUV, although the company does sell an electric version of its Sprinter commercial van. The introduction of the VLE will provide Canadian consumers with a new luxury electric vehicle option, competing in a market that currently includes hybrid minivans like the Kia Carnival Hybrid and Toyota Sienna, as well as the Chrysler Pacific Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV).

As the Canadian automotive market continues to shift towards electric vehicles, Mercedes-Benz’s introduction of the VLE van underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its EV offerings and catering to diverse consumer needs.
