Mercedes-Benz is pushing the boundaries of luxury transportation with its upcoming VAN.EA platform, a modular electric vehicle architecture designed for various van applications. While most vehicles built on this platform will serve as passenger haulers or commercial vehicles, some will cater to the growing demand for limousine-like luxury vans in select global markets. The Vision V concept embodies this vision, offering a glimpse into the potential of VAN.EA-based vehicles for high-end transportation.
Design and Features
The Vision V is a four-seater configured with two front seats and two rear seats, reminiscent of the plush variations of the Lexus LM. The rear compartment boasts reclining seats, expansive wood panels, and glass-enclosed shelves, perfect for storing a chess set or VIP’s beverages. A glass-and-metal partition separates the driver’s compartment from the passengers, with the former featuring a full-length dashboard screen similar to the new CLA.

The exterior design is characterized by metal trim along the windows, large blocky wheels, and a distinctive faux grille. The van’s chunky appearance gives it an ultra-luxury feel on a van footprint, appealing to customers who desire the comfort of a Maybach with the practicality of a Toyota Sienna.
Future Plans
Mercedes-Benz plans to market these grand limousines under the VLS and VLE badges, with the Vision V likely previewing a VLS model. This would position the VLS alongside the S-Class, GLS, EQS, and EQS SUV as top-tier luxury offerings. However, it’s uncertain whether this model will make its way to the U.S. market, as limousine-style vans from major manufacturers have been rare in America.

Despite this uncertainty, the Vision V showcases Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to innovative luxury transportation solutions.
