Introduction to the Mercedes-Benz Vision V Concept
Mercedes-Benz has introduced the Vision V Concept, a revolutionary vehicle that blurs the line between a van and a luxurious limousine. While it may appear to be a van at first glance, with features like an illuminated three-pointed star and 24-inch illuminated wheels, its interior reveals a world of opulence designed for the ultimate passenger experience.
Key Features of the Vision V Concept
The Vision V Concept is built on Mercedes’ new Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA), a platform that will underpin all electric vans, including the next-generation Sprinter. This substantial concept measures 5,486-mm in length, 2,100-mm in width, and rides on a lengthy 3,530-mm wheelbase. Despite its size, it seats only four riders, with two in the front and two in the “Private Lounge” at the rear.

The Private Lounge is a highlight of the Vision V Concept, featuring first-class lounger-like seating finished in white leather and silk. These power-adjustable seats offer four modes: entry, default, relaxed, and lay-flat sleep. A touchpad in the centre console controls a 65-inch TV that rises from a burr wood and Nappa leather console. When not in use, the 4K screen retracts below the floor, with about a third of it serving as an information screen.
Immersive Experience
The Vision V Concept offers an immersive experience through its advanced technology. In addition to the 65-inch TV, seven projectors create a 360-degree experience by turning the side windows into additional screens. A surround-sound system with 42 speakers, including those embedded in the seats, provides a haptic audio experience.

Luxury and Sustainability
The Vision V Concept’s luxury extends beyond its visual features to include ambient lighting, a fragrance-dispensing system, fine crystal decanters, and a glass chess set. The driver’s cockpit features three screens under a single piece of glass, known as the Superscreen, which houses instrumentation, the MBUX multimedia interface, and the passenger’s screen.
One of the innovative features of the Vision V Concept is its solar roof panel, comprising 168 cells with 24.3% efficiency, producing 539 watts of power. According to Mercedes-Benz, this solar roof can generate “around 2.08 kWh” of energy per day, potentially increasing the daily driving range by up to 22 kilometres.
Future Production Plans
Starting in 2026, Mercedes-Benz plans to develop the Vision V Concept into a range of production vehicles, including entry-level family rides, luxurious personal limousines, and executive VIP shuttles. The launch of this concept in Shanghai signifies the brand’s strategic focus on the luxury electric vehicle market.
The Mercedes-Benz Vision V Concept represents a significant step in the brand’s journey towards luxurious and sustainable transportation solutions. With its innovative features and commitment to electric mobility, it sets a new standard for VIP transportation.
