Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV Crowned Luxury EV of the Year
The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV has won the Luxury Electric Car Of The Year title at the 2025 car&bike Awards. This prestigious recognition highlights the vehicle’s superior features and its impact on the luxury electric vehicle market.
Launched in India in August 2024, the EQS 680 SUV is the first electric vehicle from Mercedes’ Maybach stable. The competition for the ‘Electric Car Of The Year’ award included the BMW i5, Porsche Macan EV, Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 SUV, and Kia EV9.
This all-electric SUV boasts impressive performance specifications:
- Powered by a 122 kWh battery.
- Dual electric motors, one on each axle.
- 640 bhp and a substantial 950 Nm of torque.
- 0-100 kmph acceleration in just 4.4 seconds.
- Top speed of 210 kmph.
- Claimed range exceeding 600 kilometers on a full charge.
The luxury electric SUV is currently priced at Rs 2.28 crore (ex-showroom).
The EQS 680 offers Airmatic air suspension with adjustable damping and a lifting capability of up to 35 mm. Rear-axle steering, with a steering angle up to 4.5 degrees, comes standard. Drive modes include Eco, Sport, Offroad, Individual, and an exclusive ‘Maybach’ mode.
Inside, the Maybach EQS 680 SUV features the three-screen ‘MBUX Hyperscreen’ infotainment system customized with Maybach-specific themes and colorways. It also provides rear executive seats with ventilation, massage function, neck and shoulder heating, and two 11.6-inch displays for rear-seat passengers, among other features.
