I-95 Crash in Westport Involves Tractor-Trailer and Pickup Truck
WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — State police reported minor injuries following a crash on I-95 in Westport, Connecticut, on Thursday. The incident involved a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck.
The accident occurred around 1:07 p.m. on I-95 southbound near Exit 18. According to officials, both vehicles veered off the road and ended up in an embankment.
Firefighters from the Westport and Fairfield Fire Departments safely removed all occupants from the vehicles. The pickup truck sustained severe damage and was partially trapped.
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) was notified due to fluid spillage near the crash site. The scene was cleared by 1:49 p.m.
Connecticut State Police are currently investigating the cause of the crash, and cleanup efforts are ongoing.
