MNPD Searching for Pickup Truck Involved in Deadly Hit-and-Run Crash
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is seeking a dark-colored, possibly black, Toyota Tacoma pickup truck believed to be involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash.
Police reports indicate the crash, which claimed the life of an electric scooter rider, occurred Monday night on Old Hickory Boulevard near the I-42 interchange. The rider was reportedly leaving the parking lot of a nearby Dollar General and attempting to cross the road when the incident took place.
According to witness statements, the truck is alleged to have dragged the man and his scooter for over 900 feet, with sparks flying from underneath. After the victim and scooter dislodged, the vehicle fled onto Old Hickory Boulevard toward Murfreesboro Pike. The crash occurred around 7 p.m. Monday.
Metro Police are urging anyone with information regarding the crash to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers can remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward. At this time, there is no surveillance footage available for public release.
