Activists vandalized a Tesla dealership in Montreal on Wednesday, adding to a growing number of attacks against the electric car company and its CEO, Elon Musk, both in the United States and worldwide.
Police arrested two individuals at the dealership located on Décarie Boulevard in the city’s Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough. The climate action group Last Generation Canada claimed responsibility for the incident. In a statement, the group called on Canada to challenge Musk, accusing him of “destroying democracies and spreading climate denial.”

The same group has previously organized other protest actions, including a demonstration on Montreal’s Jacques Cartier Bridge last year.
Acts of vandalism targeting Tesla have risen since U.S. President Donald Trump’s appointment of Musk to oversee the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
In recent weeks, Tesla showrooms, charging stations, and privately owned vehicles have been vandalized in the United States, accompanied by dozens of protests outside Tesla dealerships and factories.
The Vancouver International Auto Show removed Tesla from its event this week, citing safety concerns for attendees and exhibitors.

Some Canadians recently joined “Tesla Takedown” protests, objecting to Musk’s advisory role to President Trump. Trump has imposed steep tariffs on Canadian goods, contributing to an ongoing trade war, and suggested Canada would be better off as the 51st U.S. state.
Musk addressed the issue briefly on U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz’s podcast, suggesting that some vandalism is organized and paid for by “left-wing organizations in America, funded by left-wing billionaires.”
Musk wrote on X, formerly Twitter, “This level of violence is insane and deeply wrong,” sharing a video of burning Teslas in Las Vegas. “Tesla just makes electric cars and has done nothing to deserve these evil attacks.”
