The Morgan Motor Company has revealed its newest flagship vehicle, the Supersport. This marks a bold step forward for the historic British marque, blending its storied design language with modern technology.

The Supersport showcases several exterior changes on its aluminum bodywork, including a new shoulder line and the addition of a boot—a first for a Morgan vehicle in over a decade. The car also offers an interchangeable carbon-composite hard top and a folding mohair soft top, allowing for convertible driving. The goal for Morgan is to create a vehicle that can compete with cars like the Porsche 911 Carrera.

Beneath the sleek, minimalist design lies considerable power, according to TopGear. The Supersport is equipped with a B58 TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine from BMW, a longtime partner of Morgan’s. This engine produces 335 bhp and is linked to a ZP eight-speed automatic gearbox. Drivers can expect 369 ft. lbs. of torque, with a zero-to-62-mph time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 166 mph.

The car features an all-new CXV aluminum platform, an upgrade from the previous-generation CX Generation Aluminum platform. The new platform increases torsional rigidity by 10 percent, which increases another 10 percent with the carbon-fiber hard top equipped. (Suspension mounting point stiffness has increased 100 percent). This new platform weighs around 225 pounds (102 kilograms), while the older design weighed nearly 214 pounds (97 kilograms.) Steering is also improved, now 13 percent quicker than Morgan’s previous Plus Six model.

The interior incorporates modern tech, including a wireless charging pad, a Sennheiser audio system, and a driver’s digital display. However, the car retains classic retro touches, with analog gauges in the center of the dashboard. The wood on the door cards is available in 11 finishes, from engineered marquetry to traditional walnut.

The Morgan Supersport is priced starting at about $110,000 (£85,000 pounds) and is available in a range of color combinations to customize the car. Jonathan Wells, Morgan’s chief design officer, shared the vision behind it: “The launch of the Morgan Supersport marks the culmination of five years of exploration, craftsmanship, and collaboration—our bold vision of 21st-century coachbuilding. It has been a passion project for our team, an opportunity to push boundaries and define what a flagship Morgan can be.”

The Morgan Motor Company has been producing vehicles from Malvern, U.K., for over 110 years. As one of Britain’s longest-running motor manufacturers, the company continues to blend modern technology with traditional craftsmanship, a hallmark of its history. In addition to releasing the Supersport, the carmaker will bring its retro-style Plus Four roadster back to the U.S. market this month.
