A tragic accident occurred in Yarmouth on Thursday afternoon when a 28-year-old motorcyclist collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of Station Avenue and Wood Road. The motorcyclist, identified as Keean Laakso of South Yarmouth, was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering life-threatening injuries. The collision happened shortly after 4 p.m., prompting a response from Yarmouth Police, who initially received reports of a single-vehicle crash involving a mailbox.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a pickup truck was also involved in the incident. The pickup truck driver remained at the scene while Yarmouth Fire Department personnel attempted to save Laakso’s life. According to the preliminary investigation, the pickup truck was crossing the intersection of Wood Road when Laakso, traveling south on Station Avenue at high speed, crashed into the vehicle before striking a granite mailbox post.
The Yarmouth Police Department, along with the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction Unit, is investigating the incident. No charges have been filed at this time. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crash to contact the police at 508-775-0445.
