Several car companies have issued recalls for thousands of vehicles in Canada due to various safety concerns. Here’s a summary of the vehicle recalls reported to Transport Canada between May 21 and May 26.
Land Rover Recall
Land Rover has recalled certain 2014 to 2017 Range Rover Sport models, affecting over 9,000 SUVs. The recall is due to the potential for the front suspension knuckles to crack or break, which could lead to a sudden loss of vehicle control while driving. “A loss of vehicle control could increase the risk of a crash,” according to the recall notice last updated on May 26. Land Rover will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicles to a dealership for inspection. If the knuckles are not cracked, dealers will install retaining brackets. If cracks are found, the knuckles will be replaced.
Ram Recall
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has recalled the 2022 to 2025 Ram ProMaster vans, with nearly 18,000 units affected. The issue stems from a software problem that may prevent the rear-view camera image from displaying when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. “A rear-view camera image that doesn’t display could reduce a driver’s ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up, increasing the risk of a crash,” as stated in the recall notice last updated on May 23. FCA Canada will notify owners in writing and advise them to take their vehicles to a dealership to update the security gateway module software.
Ford and Lincoln Recalls
Ford has issued multiple recalls recently. The company recalled various model years of the Ford F-150, Ford Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator due to braking and steering issues. More information can be found at the accompanying link.
Ford also recalled the 2025 Ford Ranger pickup truck, with 12 vehicles affected. The recall is due to the driver’s seat bolts potentially being missing or not tightened properly, which could cause the seat to move or detach in a crash. “A seat that moves or detaches in a crash could increase the risk of injury,” according to the recall notice last updated on May 23. Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicles to a dealership for inspection and necessary tightening or installation of the driver’s seat bolts.
Additionally, Ford recalled a single 2022 Lincoln Navigator equipped with an aftermarket trailer brake controller. The issue is related to the trailer brake controller not being wired correctly, potentially causing the brake lights to turn on briefly without pressing the brake pedal. “Brake lights that turn on without the brake pedal being pressed could cause others not to recognize when the vehicle is braking or not braking, increasing the risk of a crash,” as stated in the recall notice last updated on May 23. Ford will notify the owner by mail and advise them to take their vehicle to a dealership to repair the wiring and remove the aftermarket trailer brake controller circuit wire from the power distribution box in-line controller.
