Nashville, TN – Police are actively searching for a pickup truck following a hit-and-run collision that claimed the life of a scooter rider in South Nashville.
The incident occurred on Old Hickory Boulevard near Firestone Parkway just before 7 p.m. on Monday. According to a statement released by the Nashville Police Department, the victim was struck by what is believed to be a dark-colored Toyota Tacoma.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the scooter driver had exited a nearby Dollar General and was traveling along the shoulder of Old Hickory Boulevard. The driver then attempted to cross the road when the collision occurred.
“Witnesses reported seeing sparks coming from underneath the truck as it dragged the scooter more than 900 feet near to Firestone Parkway,” the police statement said. “Once the victim and the scooter became dislodged, the truck fled on Old Hickory Boulevard toward Murfreesboro Pike.”
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the pickup truck or its driver to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
