New Citroen e-C3 Van: A Budget-Friendly Electric Option Arriving in April

Citroen has announced plans to launch a van version of its all-electric e-C3 supermini, targeting buyers previously interested in the now-discontinued Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsavan vans. Set to go on sale in mid-April, with customer deliveries expected in late summer, the e-C3 van is poised to offer a competitively priced, zero-emission option for businesses.

With the VAT removed and the maximum Plug-in Van Grant applied, the e-C3 van could start from as low as £15,035. This pricing strategy positions the e-C3 van as a potential rival to the Dacia Spring Cargo, which is priced from £14,995.

The e-C3 van will slot into Citroen’s commercial lineup below the E-Berlingo, E-Dispatch, and E-Relay, and above the Ami Cargo. It will be equipped with a 44kWh battery, the same size as the larger option available in the passenger car version, offering an estimated range of 200 miles. This range is slightly improved from the hatchback due to the absence of rear seats and potentially less sound deadening.

Charging capabilities remain consistent with the passenger car model. A 100kW maximum charging rate allows for a 20 to 80 percent charge in approximately 26 minutes. The van will also include an onboard 7.6kWh charger for added convenience. Designed with urban delivery drivers in mind, the e-C3 van offers a maximum payload capacity of 494kg and a load volume of 1.2m².

Features expected to be included are a new mesh bulkhead to separate the cargo area from the cabin and blanked-out rear windows. Although specific trim levels have yet to be announced, a base-level ‘Plus’ version is anticipated. The van will retain the passenger car’s 10.25-inch central touchscreen, offering wireless smartphone connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as DAB digital radio and Bluetooth.

The e-C3 van will also feature the same 111bhp motor mounted on the front axle as the passenger car, meaning its 0-62mph acceleration time will match the car’s at 10.4 seconds. However, the top speed is slightly lower, at 82mph.
