Police Seek Public Assistance After Pickup Truck Theft and Chase
EPSOM, NH – New Hampshire State Police are seeking information from the public regarding a pickup truck theft and subsequent police chase that occurred on Monday. The incident began in Epsom and involved speeds reaching up to 100 mph before the pursuit was called off due to dangerous weather conditions.
According to authorities, the black 2014 Chevrolet Silverado was stolen from a Cumberland Farms parking lot in Epsom, New Hampshire, on Monday morning. Troopers from Troop D spotted the vehicle traveling west on Route 393 before it headed northbound on Interstate 93. Staff Sgt. Gregg DeLuca stated, “One of the troopers from Troop D observed the vehicle traveling westbound on 393 in the city of Concord. The vehicle then got on to 93 northbound.”
Troopers pursued the truck through Boscawen and Penacook. Sgt. DeLuca noted the chase reached speeds between 50 and 100 miles per hour. The pursuit ended when the driver exited onto Route 4 in Salisbury. Due to heavy fog and rain, police made the decision to discontinue the chase, citing safety concerns about reduced visibility. “When you don’t have the visibility that you want, that makes things a little more dangerous. And you got to have a little risk versus reward. So, the troopers backed off, and the subject continued on,” explained DeLuca.
The stolen pickup truck was last seen heading west on Route 4 toward Andover. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating both the truck and the suspect. The suspect is described as a white male with a goatee who was wearing a black vest.
State Police are collaborating with Epsom police in the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Christopher Abbate at (603) 451-9319 or [email protected], or the Epsom Police Department at (603) 736-9624.
