A family in Edison, New Jersey, is grappling with fear following a harrowing home invasion last weekend. Authorities believe the suspects were seeking keys to high-end vehicles.
“They came in with no fear,” recounted a woman living in the home, describing the terrifying experience.
Security footage from a doorbell camera captured the tense moments as three individuals forced their way into the residence. The woman described the emotional impact, stating, “It’s very difficult for me to watch and to relive. My stomach turns every time. They came in with no fear.”
The woman, who is four months pregnant, said she awoke to her fiancé confronting the intruders. She immediately grabbed her 10-month-old son and sought refuge in the bathroom. “I’m just hearing a lot of commotion downstairs, the dog barking, my fiancé screaming, the men screaming,” she recalled.
The confrontation apparently startled the suspects, who fled the scene, leaving the homeowner unharmed. Police believe a luxury vehicle may have been their primary target.
That same morning, Edison police reported the three suspects attempted to burglarize homes in Woodbridge and Metuchen, presumably to steal keys to luxury cars parked in driveways.
Authorities are advising residents to secure their car keys, suggesting they be kept away from front and back doors, as well as kitchen counters.
“Hopefully now, families can see this and keep their loved ones safe, you know. Arm your homes, make sure that the alarms are on,” the woman said.
The young family is now adjusting to a new reality as they try to move forward. “It’s not going to be an easy road, but, luckily, we are all safe and unharmed, so I’m grateful for that,” the woman concluded.
