Volvo is set to expand its electric vehicle lineup with the ES90, the sixth fully electric model in its portfolio. The new vehicle will feature 800V charging technology. This advanced charging system promises significantly faster charging times and a longer driving range compared to previous electric Volvo models.
The ES90 is poised to become a flagship model, underscoring Volvo’s commitment to an all-electric future.

The ES90’s core computing capabilities benefit from next-generation technology, including dual Nvidia Drive AGX Orin processors. This technological integration moves Volvo closer to its goal of complete electrification, enhancing both performance and efficiency.
According to Volvo, the 800-volt technology enables faster charging, improving overall performance and efficiency. It enables owners to add as much as 300 kilometers (approximately 186 miles) of range in a mere 10 minutes at 350kW fast-charging stations. The car is projected to offer a driving range of up to 700 kilometers (435 miles) under the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) testing cycle.
“The Volvo ES90 combines our most advanced technologies with Scandinavian design and superior comfort, creating a true premium Volvo car designed to elevate your quality of life,” said Volvo CEO Jim Rowan. “It joins the EX90 SUV as one of our flagship models and cements our position as an industry leader in software-defined cars that harness the power of core computing.”
The ES90 will also include bi-directional charging capabilities. This feature will allow owners to use the vehicle’s battery to power their homes or feed excess energy back into the grid. Volvo is developing a 92kWh version, with a potential range of up to 404 miles, with an estimated retail price of around £70,000.
Additional versions, including single motor, twin motor, and four-wheel drive configurations, are also in development. The ES90 is expected to go on sale sometime this month, with the first deliveries anticipated in the UK in March or April 2026.
