The Niagara Falls Police Crash Investigation Unit is investigating a crash that occurred on Friday at approximately 10:46 a.m. in the 1900 block of Walnut Avenue. A 32-year-old driver operating a 2009 Mercedes westbound on Walnut Avenue was making a right turn into a gas station parking lot when the vehicle collided with a 17-year-old male riding an electric scooter eastbound on Walnut.
The teenager, who was not wearing protective gear, sustained head and leg injuries and was transported to Erie County Medical Center. While the extent of his injuries is not yet known, they are not considered life-threatening.
The driver of the Mercedes was not injured in the crash and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The incident highlights the importance of road safety and the need for both motorists and cyclists to be vigilant when sharing the road.
