Fatal Bicycle Crash in Escambia County
ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 40-year-old man from Niceville died after being struck by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle on Tuesday night. The incident occurred at 9:46 p.m. on County Road 293 (Bauer Road) when a 60-year-old woman driving a Ford Pickup was traveling north and collided with the bicyclist, who was also heading north in the travel lane.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the collision caused both vehicles to come to rest on the shoulder of the road. The bicyclist was taken to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The incident highlights the importance of road safety for both motorists and cyclists.
