Nissan is providing an early look at the design direction for its upcoming vehicles slated for 2026 and 2027. Among the previews is a teaser image of a future midsize pickup truck intended for the Latin American region. This design could represent the next iteration of the Nissan NP300 or Nissan Navara.
Nissan specifically emphasizes that this pickup truck is designed for the Latin American market. It’s essential to note that this isn’t a preview of the next Nissan Frontier intended for the U.S. market, although the design’s dark silhouette does bear a resemblance to the current Navara and Frontier models. The teaser reveals a new front-end design and updated light patterns. However, the teaser image does not show much detail.
Nissan is promoting its e-POWER extended-range EV propulsion system. The initial vehicle in the United States to feature this technology is expected to be the 2026 Nissan Rogue compact crossover. There’s speculation about whether this e-POWER system will also be integrated into a future Nissan pickup truck, though no confirmed information is available at this time. The Nissan e-POWER system utilizes a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine as a generator to recharge batteries and power the vehicle’s electric motor(s).
Other manufacturers, such as BYD with its Shark pickup truck, are already offering midsize pickups that use a similar gasoline range-extended electric system. Nissan has stated that it’s developing a range of propulsion systems for its upcoming vehicles globally. This comprises internal combustion engines, hybrids, plug-in hybrids, EVs, and e-POWER systems.
