Nissan Unveils All-New LEAF Electric Car
Nissan has unveiled its all-new LEAF electric vehicle, which will be produced at its Sunderland plant in the North East of England. This marks the first model to be launched under Nissan’s EV36Zero initiative, a blueprint for future electric vehicle production. The plant’s 6,000-strong team will manufacture the new LEAF, which has been engineered specifically for European customers at Nissan’s UK research and development center in Cranfield, Bedfordshire.

The new LEAF will be powered by batteries supplied by AESC, Britain’s newest gigafactory, located adjacent to the Nissan plant. The vehicle is expected to have a range of up to 375 miles on a single charge and will be available for customer orders later this year. Nissan plans to follow the LEAF with the next-generation Qashqai e-POWER in the coming months, and an all-new fully electric Juke next year.
Alan Johnson, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing & Supply Chain Management at Nissan Motor Manufacturing, said: “> It’s with immense pride that we unveil the third-generation of our pioneering electric LEAF, twelve years after we brought EV and battery manufacturing to the UK.”
James Taylor, managing director of Nissan GB, added: “> We’re really excited about the launch of the all-new LEAF later this year. It builds on the success of the previous two generations, which have been purchased by over 70,000 UK customers.”
The new LEAF represents a significant milestone for Nissan’s electric vehicle production in the UK, demonstrating the company’s commitment to its EV36Zero blueprint and the future of sustainable motoring.
