Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by Pickup Truck’s Mirror
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A 62-year-old West Palm Beach man died last week after being struck by a pickup truck’s passenger-side mirror while crossing the road.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO), Alan Higginbotham was walking south across Okeechobee Boulevard near Vista Parkway around 8 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025, when a Ford F-150 truck approached in the inside-center lane. Higginbotham was not in a crosswalk, and the truck’s mirror hit him after the vehicle switched lanes.
After the collision, the driver of the pickup stopped and waited for authorities to arrive. Higginbotham was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died several hours later.
