Shooting Incident in Dearborn Heights Leaves Pickup Truck Riddled with Bullets
A shooting incident occurred on Tuesday near the southern border of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, at the intersection of Hipp Street and Powers Avenue. The incident involved two vehicles, including a pickup truck that was later found with multiple bullet holes.
Deacon Lorenzo Porter Lott of Freedom Fellowship Church, located near the scene, urged calm in the wake of the shooting. “Have some faith and have some patience,” Lott said. “People should learn to calm down, take a moment, count to three, whatever you got to do, and just calm down because when the bullets come out the gun they can’t go back.”
Witnesses described the vehicles involved as a black SUV and a gray pickup truck. Although both vehicles had left the scene by the time police arrived, the pickup truck was later located with significant damage from gunfire.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. Dearborn Heights police were able to identify a person of interest after speaking with witnesses and reviewing reports of shots fired. The case will be forwarded to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s office upon completion of the investigation.
Lott, a Marine veteran, drew from his experience to emphasize the preventable nature of such conflicts. “Think about what you’re doing,” he said. “Are you willing to go to jail for life for a simple situation.”
The incident has shaken the neighborhood, but community members are calling for peace and caution.
