Peugeot E-208 Australian Launch Imminent, Pricing Revealed
After nearly two years since its Australian launch was confirmed, the Peugeot E-208 EV is reportedly nearing its debut in local showrooms, but potential buyers should prepare for a premium price tag.
According to industry data, the 2025 Peugeot E-208 is set to arrive in a single GT specification, with a price starting from $49,990, excluding on-road costs. This pricing, which has been published on the Redbook industry database, places the E-208 within striking distance of Tesla’s most affordable model, despite being a smaller vehicle with a shorter claimed driving range. The E-208 boasts a claimed range of 331km, compared to Tesla’s 513km.
The E-208 will feature a 51kWh battery, delivering 115kW of power and 260Nm of torque to the front wheels. Its dimensions position it between the Mini Cooper EV and the BYD Dolphin. Despite its compact size, the hatchback offers a luggage capacity of 309 liters with all seats in use, expanding to 779 liters when the rear seats are folded.
Standard equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels, ambient interior lighting, keyless entry, push-button start, part-Alcantara seat trim, and a digital instrument cluster. Safety features listed include lane departure warning, a blind-spot monitor, front and rear parking sensors, and front and rear cameras.
The 208 nameplate was last available in Australia in 2018, with the first-generation model. The second-generation petrol-powered model was slated for an Australian release, but plans shifted to offer the nameplate exclusively as an electric vehicle.
Drive has reached out to Peugeot Australia to verify the leaked pricing information and is awaiting a response.
