Pickup Truck Crashes into Sweden Home, Driver Critically Injured
SWEDEN, Maine (WGME) — A Massachusetts man is in critical condition after his pickup truck crashed into a residence in Sweden, Maine, on Wednesday night.
The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene near 1 Lovell Road around 11:05 p.m. after receiving reports of the accident.
Authorities report that a 52-year-old Massachusetts man was driving a Ford F-250 pickup truck when he drove through an intersection at a high rate of speed and collided with a home. The truck went through a wall, and the chimney collapsed onto the vehicle.
Fortunately, no one was inside the home when the crash occurred.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the truck, sustained severe, life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Bridgton Hospital before being airlifted by Life Flight to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Deputies indicate that speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
