MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A pickup truck crashed into a utility pole Friday morning in the Orange Mound neighborhood.
The accident occurred around 7:00 a.m. A utility company was called to the scene to repair the damaged pole. A secondary pole was also damaged.
According to a Memphis Police Department spokesperson, a wrecker service removed the vehicle from the scene.
Authorities, including the Memphis Fire Department, responded to the scene near the intersection of Vance Avenue and Robert Church Avenue. At least 100 residents were without power as of 7:00 am. The outage affected areas near Crump Boulevard and Rayner Street.
The driver told FOX13 that he was “distracted” at the time of the collision, saying he was looking at someone in the truck when it crashed. He was cited for reckless driving, according to the police report.
