Oro-Medonte fire crews responded to a vehicle fire at an Esso gas station on Highway 11 on Tuesday afternoon, leaving behind only a charred wreck.
Deputy Fire Chief Murray Langman confirmed that crews were called to the scene, located between County Road 93 and Line 1. The vehicle, identified as a late-model GMC Colorado pickup truck, was fully engulfed in flames upon arrival, and was declared a total loss. “The fire also extended into a grassy area on the boulevard,” Langman said Wednesday morning.
Despite the fire’s proximity to the road, it was contained to the parking lot. However, police temporarily closed one lane of northbound traffic while crews worked to extinguish the blaze. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) assisted the vehicle’s owner with arranging for the truck to be towed. Crews were on the scene for about an hour dealing with the situation. The cause of the fire is currently undetermined.
