BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Wednesday night in Beaufort County.
According to Master Trooper Brandon Bolt, the single-vehicle accident happened shortly after 8:35 p.m.
A 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling on River Road near Auldbrass Plantation Road when the driver veered off the road. Troopers report the driver initially traveled off the right side of the road. Then, in an attempt to correct, the driver overcorrected, sending the truck across the road to the left side. The truck then overturned and struck a tree. The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene.
The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the victim. The investigation is ongoing.
