A dramatic rescue operation was carried out on Monday, June 16, when a pickup truck with a person inside floated into the Juniata River at Buttonwood Campground in Walker Township, Pennsylvania. The incident was reported around 8:33 p.m., prompting a swift response from local fire officials.
Upon arrival, responders found that bystanders had managed to pull the truck near the shoreline and secure it to a tree. The person trapped inside was successfully extracted and transferred to emergency medical services (EMS) for evaluation at a nearby hospital.
The Mifflintown Hose Company #1 led the rescue efforts, with Chief 2 serving as the incident commander. The units that responded to the scene included Rescue 2, Engine 2, and MICU 15-2. Although several other units were initially dispatched, including Rescue 8, MifCo Boat 15 and 14, and Utility 15 and 14, they were later canceled as the situation was brought under control.
Crews from Mifflintown Hose Company #1 worked to stabilize the truck for wrecker services after the rescue was completed. A total of 19 personnel from the company were involved in the operation.
