Shooting Incident in Dearborn Heights Leaves Pickup Truck Riddled with Bullets
A shooting incident in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, has left a pickup truck peppered with gunfire after an altercation between two vehicles on Tuesday. The incident occurred near the southern border of Dearborn Heights at the intersection of Hipp Street and Powers Avenue.
According to Dearborn Heights police, witnesses reported that a black SUV and a gray pickup truck were involved in the shooting. Although both vehicles had left the scene by the time officers arrived, the pickup truck was later found with multiple bullet holes. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Deacon Lorenzo Porter Lott of Freedom Fellowship Church, located near the scene, urged calm in the community. “Have some faith and have some patience,” he said. “People should learn to calm down, take a moment, count to three, whatever you got to do, and just calm down because when the bullets come out the gun they can’t go back.” Porter Lott, a Marine veteran, drew from his experience to emphasize the preventable nature of such conflicts. “Think about what you’re doing. Are you willing to go to jail for life for a simple situation?”

The Dearborn Heights police investigation, which included speaking to witnesses and reviewing reports of shots fired, has identified a suspect. The case will be forwarded to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s office once the investigation is complete.
The community remains shaken by the incident, but voices like Deacon Lorenzo Porter Lott are calling for peace and reflection. The investigation continues, with authorities working to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
