FRENCH SETTLEMENT, LA – A collision involving a semi-truck sent a pickup truck perilously close to falling off the French Settlement bridge Tuesday. The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office shared images of the incident, showing the pickup with its front wheels suspended over the bridge’s edge.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the semi-truck rear-ended the pickup truck. The smaller vehicle then went up the side railing of the La. 16 bridge. Fortunately, deputies stated they were “pretty sure no one was hurt.” State Police were on the scene working to clear the roadway.
“Busy day in the LP,” a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office remarked about the string of incidents. Earlier in the day, an 18-wheeler blocked westbound traffic on I-12 near Holden, while another accident occurred at a Walker roundabout, and a crash on U.S. 190 in Denham Springs brought down multiple power lines.
