A pickup truck plunged into the Juniata River in Juniata County on Monday night, according to the Mifflintown Hose Company. The incident occurred near Buttonwood Campground in Walker Township around 8:30 p.m. The fire company reported that a person was still inside the truck as it began to float away. Fortunately, bystanders were able to secure the vehicle near the shore by tying it to a tree until rescue crews arrived. The occupant was subsequently freed from the truck and transported to the emergency room for evaluation. After the rescue, the truck was pulled from the river and towed from the scene. Photos from the incident show the pickup truck submerged in water. The Mifflintown Hose Company handled the rescue operation.
