
Brick Township police reported a pickup truck rear-ended a school bus on Cherry Quay Road Thursday morning.
The incident, which occurred at 8:21 a.m., involved a Brick Township public school bus. According to a police statement, “minor injuries” were reported as a result of the collision.
Brick police officers, along with EMTs and school officials, responded to the scene to ensure the students’ safety. Efforts were made to have children picked up by parents or transported to school.
“This event serves as a critical reminder for all drivers to adhere to posted speed limits and exercise utmost caution during school hours, when buses frequently stop to pick up or drop off students,” police said in a statement.
The statement also included a reminder of safety. “The Brick Township Police Department urges residents to prioritize safety on our roads.”
The driver of the pickup truck has not been identified by the police. The investigation continues, and anyone with information is asked to contact the department at 732-262-1100.
