Police Investigate Pickup Truck Incident During Petaluma Protest
Protesters were seen striking the side of a pickup truck after it drove through a group of people in a crosswalk on Western Avenue in Petaluma during a ‘No Kings’ demonstration on Saturday, June 14, 2025. The incident occurred at the intersection of Western Avenue and Petaluma Boulevard North, where protesters had entered the crosswalk while the signal displayed a green light for vehicles.

According to the Petaluma Police Department, the truck proceeded through the intersection, resulting in a situation that sparked strong concern in the community. A witness on Facebook reported that the pickup allegedly ‘plowed into’ the protesters. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The driver involved reported the incident to police and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The Petaluma Police Department is reviewing video footage and witness accounts to determine if any illegal activity occurred. The ‘No Kings’ event drew hundreds of participants and remained peaceful for most of the day. Police emphasized that drivers are legally obligated to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks, even when they have a green light. ‘Driving toward pedestrians, particularly families with children, is dangerous and may violate multiple sections of the California Vehicle Code,’ the department stated.
The police also noted that pedestrians have a responsibility to cross streets lawfully and avoid walking against the light, especially outside of crosswalks. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
