Pickup Trucks Stolen from Barrie Residences
Barrie police are investigating the theft of two pickup trucks from homes in southwest Barrie, occurring on Wednesday and Thursday, March 12-13, 2025. The vehicles were stolen from driveways while the owners were asleep, authorities reported.
In the first incident, a white 2023 Dodge Ram 1500, license plate number BP61557, was taken from a residence on Kodiak Terrace at approximately 1:20 a.m. Video surveillance was available, but it had been disabled, and the theft was not recorded.

The second theft occurred on Penvill Trail around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday. A white 2024 Dodge Ram 1500, license plate number BZ59352, was stolen after an unidentified man, dressed in dark clothing, approached the front door and held up an “unknown wired device.” Moments later, the truck’s lights flashed, the engine started, and the vehicle was driven away, according to police. Video of the theft is available on the Barrie Police Service website.
Canvassing of both neighborhoods has been conducted, but no additional surveillance footage has been found to identify those responsible.
Police Advice for Prevention
The Barrie Police Service is urging pickup truck owners to take preventive measures. They recommend:
- Using a Faraday pouch for vehicle keys.
- Considering the installation of an ignition defeat or tracking system.
- Never leaving keys near the front door.
- Using a steering wheel locking device, an onboard diagnostic port lock, or an accelerator locking device, if possible.
Police also advised that parking other vehicles around pickup trucks that cannot be stored in a garage may help prevent theft.
Residents can obtain a free Faraday pouch by visiting police headquarters on Fairview Road with valid identification.
