Police Investigate Hit-and-Run Involving Truck with ‘MAGA’ Slogan
WESTMORELAND, N.Y. — New York State Police are seeking the public’s help after responding to a hit-and-run incident last week on Route 233 in Westmoreland.
According to State Police, the incident occurred on February 27, 2025, around 5 p.m. A white Toyota Tundra pickup truck was traveling southbound on Route 233 when it attempted to pass another vehicle that was preparing to turn right into the post office parking lot. The pickup truck struck the vehicle as it was passing on the shoulder, causing damage to the passenger-side quarter panel and headlight.
Police described the driver of the pickup truck as a middle-aged white male. After the collision, the driver pulled into the Westmo Car Wash parking lot to inspect the damage. The vehicle had no front license plate, and the rear plate was obscured by dirt, making the registration difficult to read. The truck also featured a red tailgate with the letters “MAGA” written in white lettering.
After inspecting the damage, the driver left the car wash parking lot and continued southbound on Route 233 without contacting the other driver.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the New York State Police at Troop D Headquarters at (315) 366-6000.
