Porsche to Unveil Electric Cayenne in 2025
Porsche has confirmed the much-anticipated electric Cayenne will be officially presented before the close of 2025. The news comes amidst a period of industry adjustments as automakers navigate evolving market demands and policy shifts.

While an all-electric future remains a focus for the brand, plans have shifted. The Cayenne will continue to be offered with a combustion engine, with production expected to extend beyond 2030.
Brand CEO Oliver Blume shared the update during the manufacturer’s annual general meeting on March 12. This decision reflects a broader trend within the automotive industry as companies adapt to consumer preferences and market dynamics.
Production and Availability
The electric Cayenne will be built at the Volkswagen plant in Bratislava, Slovakia, the same facility where the current gasoline-powered Cayenne is assembled. Market availability is expected to follow in 2026 in Europe. If the pattern continues, North America might see the electric Cayenne as a 2027 model.

This model will share the Volkswagen Group’s PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform with the electric Macan. The Macan EV features a 100-kWh battery, with electric motors on each axle. Porsche offers multiple power levels for the Macan, including 630 hp for the Turbo version. The Cayenne is expected to follow suit, with even more power due to its increased weight.
The Future of the Internal Combustion Engine Cayenne
The gasoline-powered Cayenne, which received a significant update for the 2024 model year and is also available in a plug-in hybrid configuration, will continue to be manufactured beyond 2030. This suggests that a new generation equipped with a thermal engine could be in the works.
Last year, Porsche delivered 102,899 units of the flagship model, making up roughly a third of the brand’s total sales. The ICE Cayenne’s significant revenue makes the company reluctant to end production too soon.
