Ram Introduces Extended Powertrain Warranty for Trucks
Ram, the Stellantis brand known for its trucks, has announced a significant improvement to its warranty program. Starting with 2026 models, Ram will offer a 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, covering major components such as the engine, transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, differentials, and axles. This new warranty applies to both individual and business purchases, including work trucks like the Ram 5500 Chassis Cab and ProMaster van, but excludes fleet purchases.

The decision comes as truck buyers are increasingly financing purchases for longer periods, with nearly 80% of new truck loans exceeding five years. Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis stated that customers are making long-term investments in their vehicles, and the extended warranty demonstrates Ram’s commitment to its customers.
This move could give Ram a competitive edge in the truck market, where warranty offerings have typically been limited to five years or 60,000 miles. The enhanced warranty provides peace of mind for truck owners, particularly considering the high replacement costs for major components in heavy-duty trucks.
The industry shift towards longer warranties may also pressure competitors like GM and Ford to follow suit. For now, the extended warranty is a significant selling point for Ram, potentially swaying customers who value long-term protection for their vehicles.
