Ram Rolls Out 10-Year Powertrain Warranty to Regain Truck Buyer Trust
Ram is launching a new 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty on its full-size trucks and vans in an effort to rebuild trust and better compete with its rivals in the truck market.

The move comes as Ram faces challenges, including a sharp drop in sales over the past couple of years despite introducing a completely revamped 1500 half-ton pickup for 2025. Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis explained that the extended warranty is particularly important now that rising new vehicle prices have forced many buyers to extend their auto loans to six, seven, or even eight years.
“Everything is more expensive, and trucks are certainly no exception. Truck buyers are financing purchases for longer periods, with nearly 80 percent of new truck loans exceeding five years,” Kuniskis noted during a media briefing. “Our customers are making a long-term investment in Ram, and with America’s Best Full-size Truck Limited Powertrain Warranty, Ram is making a stronger and longer commitment to our customers.”
Vehicles Covered Under the New Warranty
The warranty covers various Ram vehicles, including:
- The Ram 1500 pickup
- 2500/3500 Heavy Duty trucks
- 3500/4500/5500 Chassis Cab
- ProMaster vans

The new warranty program is part of Ram’s broader strategy to address criticism and regain buyer confidence. Kuniskis acknowledged that the company “got it wrong” by ending production of its iconic Hemi engine with the 2025 truck launch, but it will return to the option list later this summer.
Ram has built a reputation for quality and reliability, ranking as the highest overall brand in the J.D. Power Initial Quality survey released in June 2024, surpassing mainstream and luxury brands.
With 25 major announcements planned for the coming months, Ram is betting that the longer warranty will be particularly effective in winning back buyers and attracting customers from competitors Ford, Chevrolet, and GMC.
