The Rivian R1T isn’t just your average pickup truck; Rivian calls it an “Adventure Vehicle,” and it’s easy to see why. After enduring scorching heat in Australia and sub-zero temperatures in North America, MEVCO, a specialist in mining equipment, has concluded that the R1T is indeed “built for extremes.”

MEVCO, established in 2022, is on a mission to revolutionize the mining industry. The company not only offers electric vehicles like the Rivian R1T but also collaborates with clients globally to provide comprehensive EV solutions, including charging infrastructure, maintenance, and specialized training. This week, MEVCO shared insights into the R1T’s performance. The mining company has been testing the Rivian R1T and Electric Commercial Van since last year.
To prove its resilience, the R1T was tested in “the soaring heat of the desert to the biting cold of North America.” MEVCO stated on social media, accompanying images of the neon green R1T, “This proves one thing loud and clear – the R1T is built for extremes.”

MEVCO currently has multiple teams operating in Australia, Canada, and the United States, working on both underground and surface mining projects. After a recent two-day, over 1,000-mile (1,670 km) trip across Australia, the company declared that it “proved why the future of mining is electric, safe, and sustainable.”

MEVCO offers the Gen 2 Rivian R1T Dual Motor model in both Dual Standard (LFP) and Dual Max (NCA) powertrains. Both configurations deliver up to 533 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque. The Dual Standard, powered by a 97 kWh LFP battery, achieves a WLTP range of 258 miles, while the Dual Max, with a 149 kWh NCA battery pack, can reach up to 370 miles (WLTP).

With up to 14.7 inches of ground clearance, the R1T can navigate through three feet of water and tow up to 11,000 lbs (Dual Max). MEVCO has upgraded the R1T specifically for mining applications, adding features like a custom Rivian-designed front bar with vehicle sensors (sidebars are also available), a 12V Isolator, antenna, beacon, and a mine bar, among other modifications.
