Rivian Issues Safety Recall for R1S and R1T Models
Rivian, the electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced a safety recall for its R1S utility vehicle and R1T pickup truck models from the 2022 to 2025 model years. The recall affects a total of 536 vehicles, with an estimated 3.4% potentially having the actual defect. The issue lies in the front seat belt anchorage assemblies, where the D-ring bolts may not have been properly installed during manufacturing, potentially decreasing the strength of the bolt joint and causing inadequate attachment of the front seat belts during loading.
Details of the Recall
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the improperly installed D-ring bolts could increase the risk of bodily harm or death in the event of a crash. Rivian will be mailing official recall notification letters to affected vehicle owners on July 16. The manufacturer will inspect the seat belt anchorage assemblies and replace them free of charge if necessary.
Affected Vehicles and Contact Information
The recall includes R1S and R1T models from 2022 to 2025. Vehicle owners with additional questions can contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261 or visit NHTSA.gov. The automaker’s internal designation for this recall is FSAM-1681, and the NHTSA Campaign Number is 25V370000.

Importance of Addressing the Issue
It is crucial for owners of affected vehicles to address this safety concern promptly. In the event of a wreck, improperly functioning seat belts could perform inadequately or fail altogether, posing a significant risk to occupants.
As with any safety recall, Rivian owners are advised to respond promptly to the recall notification and schedule the necessary inspection and repair to ensure their vehicle’s safety features are functioning as intended.
