Rivian to Open New Facility in Milpitas
Rivian, the electric vehicle manufacturer specializing in sustainable adventure vehicles, is set to open a new facility in Milpitas, California. The company plans to occupy a space at 755 Yosemite Drive.

The City of Milpitas announced the news in a press release, highlighting the partnership between Rivian and the city. Mayor Carmen Montano expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Rivian to Milpitas. This investment highlights Milpitas’ strategic location, skilled workforce, and business-friendly environment, making it an ideal destination for leading-edge companies shaping the future of mobility.”
The Milpitas City Council unanimously approved the agreement on March 4, solidifying the collaboration with Rivian. This decision aligns with the council’s commitment to generating employment opportunities, advancing economic growth, and fostering sustainable living within Milpitas.
Rivian’s presence is expected to generate green jobs while establishing a hub for production, research, and development. Founded in 2009, Rivian develops and manufactures zero-emission adventure vehicles designed for unpaved roads. The company already employs 4,000 California residents and a total of 14,000 workers.
The press release further emphasized, “Rivian’s arrival marks a significant milestone for the City’s economic development, reinforcing Milpitas’ position within the Bay Area’s thriving technology ecosystem. The company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation aligns with the City’s vision for a greener, more dynamic future.”
The new Rivian facility is anticipated to be operational in Milpitas by the end of 2025.
