FARMINGTON, ME — A Regional School Unit (RSU) 10 school bus was involved in a collision with a pickup truck late Thursday morning at a busy intersection in Farmington.
At approximately 11:20 a.m., the Franklin County Regional Communications Center (FCRCC) received a 911 call reporting the incident. The Farmington Police Department, Farmington Fire Department, and Maine Health Emergency Medical Services were promptly dispatched to the scene at the intersection of Front Street and Main Street.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the RSU 10 school bus, driven by 48-year-old Neal McCrillis of Rumford, ME, was traveling south on Front Street. The bus, having initially moved forward to follow another bus, had stopped at the intersection when a blue 2018 Dodge Ram pickup truck, owned and operated by 40-year-old Givan Bradley of Farmington, struck it from behind.
At the time of the crash, the school bus was carrying 37 students. Fourteen students were evaluated and released at the scene. Four students were transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital by Maine Health EMS for further evaluation of potentially minor injuries. Adult chaperones were present on the bus, and no other injuries were reported.
Bradley did not report any injuries as a result of the accident. While the school bus sustained no significant damage, some minor damage was noted on Bradley’s pickup truck. RSU 10 officials were working to notify the parents and caregivers of the students involved. The investigation is ongoing to determine all contributing factors of the accident.
