A 54-year-old Salem man was seriously injured Monday night when his electric bike collided with a car on South College Street.
Salem Police reported that Bryan Hester, of East Rainey, was traveling southbound when the accident occurred at the entrance to Radiac Abrasives. A car driven by 25-year-old Max Phillips, of West Warmoth in Salem, pulled out from the private drive in front of Hester’s electric bike. Phillips told police he did not see Hester approaching.
Hester was initially taken to Salem Township Hospital before being airlifted to a St. Louis hospital for further treatment. Phillips was uninjured but was issued a citation for failure to yield when exiting a private drive.
