Skoda has revealed a teaser image of their upcoming midsize all-electric SUV, designed to accommodate seven seats. This new model will compete with established electric vehicles such as the Peugeot e-5008 and the Kia EV9, offering families an eco-friendly option.
The new SUV is the production variant of the Vision 7S concept, originally unveiled in 2022. The concept car boasts a length of just over 5,000 millimeters and is powered by an 89-kilowatt-hour battery, projecting a range of 600 kilometers (370 miles). Based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, it will share its underpinnings with other electric vehicles like the VW ID4 and the Audi Q4 E-tron.
This seven-seat EV was teased during Skoda’s 2024 earnings call on March 13th, with no further details released.
The new electric SUV will fit above the Elroq and Enyaq SUVs, giving customers an electric alternative to the combustion engine Kodiaq midsize SUV. The Vision 7S concept also introduced Skoda’s “Modern Solid” design language, which was first implemented in a production model with last year’s Elroq compact SUV. The concept car offered innovative features, including a 14.6-inch rotating dashboard screen and a rear-facing baby seat integrated into the center console. The interior of the Vision 7S features a 14.6-inch rotating dashboard screen.
Skoda’s first BEV, the Enyaq, was the fourth best-selling EV in Europe last year, with 67,344 units sold, almost equaling 2023’s sales numbers according to Dataforce. Skoda has announced ambitions to “double its ambitions” for BEV sales in Europe in 2025 and has secured 35,000 orders for the upcoming Elroq. Also on the horizon for 2026 is the launch of the Epiq, a small electric car built on the same front-wheel-drive VW Group MEB platform as the forthcoming VW ID2 hatchback and ID2 All small SUVs.
In 2024, Skoda’s sales increased by 6.9 percent, reaching 926,600 vehicles. The brand also improved its operating margin to 8.3 percent, up from 6.7 percent in 2023. Skoda’s 2024 profit margin reached 8.9 percent, surpassing the VW brand’s 2.9 percent and Audi’s 6.0 percent.
